Flashback Friday : February 26, 2010 : Stopping for dinner on our way back from adopting Joules

We drove 5 hours to adopt Joules (pretty much could have gone to LA!) from the Central Valley Rescue Railroad.  On the way back, after taking her out for a bathroom break, scaredy Joules would NOT get back into her too-small borrowed crate (she was already showing her stubborn streak!), so we let her hang out in the back seat. Her attempt to get close to the Mister's taco was her first time she acted like a normal, non-freaked out dog.

Her short short hair was due to being shaved after living on the streets for more than 6 months (our best guess). As you can see, Joules looked like she gave at least 2 litters. According to the vet we took her to, she looks like she only gave one litter, and was most likely lived in a someone's home, not a puppy mill cage, based on her comfort with being touched and groomed.

The last photo was her "mug shot": her first photo upon being rescued from the city shelter by CVRR. When the Mister first showed me her photo, I said "THAT is a schnauzer?" Obviously, I am forever grateful of his judgement in picking out our first dog. <3

Blogaround: Help a Pup Out

Blogpaws sponsored by Pedigree is sponsoring a "Write a Post-Help a Dog Blogaround" Please visit my pals Dozer and Coop @ Our Life: Dozer and Coop for the best information.

For every blog post about the campaign between now and June 30th, Pedigree will donate a 17 pound bag of food to a shelter. One bag per blog so the more of us that do it , the more tummies that get filled up. So please copy these badges and join the blogaround!

We love helping out where we can, especially when it comes to poor shelter pups like us who needed help ourselves some time ago! Thanks to Ruby who let us know about this opportunity to do some good.

Princess Joules... bored

Bored with the view from atop her throne, Princess Joules takes a nap.

For the record: we only have a view of the ocean if you stand at the leftest edge of the window and peer out between houses.

Appreciative Tuesday: Sunshine Award

Sweet Ruby the Airdale gave awarded us a Sunshine Award last week and we are so astounded to receive this. Ruby is our “neighbor” who lives only an hour away from us! We haven’t be blogging very long so we are so grateful for this gesture.

The Rules:
Answer the questions below and pass it along to 10 people and let them know they have received this award.

Our answers:
Favorite Number: Two, because there are two of us schnauzers and two pawrents, so no one has to share.

Favorite Non-alcoholic drink: Water, especially after hours of racing up and down the beach. Beach water even tastes good then, and our neat trick is making mama scream by drinking it!

Facebook or Twitter: Twitter, only because we have an account there but mama hasn’t tweeted anything for us yet.

Our passion: Following the sunny spot around the house all day long and napping in it.

Favorite Pattern: Houndstooth, obviously. Mama is working on getting us houndstooth collars.

Favorite Day of the Week: Saturday or Sunday, because we usually go to the beach or dog park for hours of play and making new furiends!

Favorite flower: Dogwood tree flowers. They are so pretty- and if we see them, it means we’re hiking somewhere wonderful with lots of exciting new smells, like Yosemite!

It was so hard to choose only ten awardees! Here they are in alphabetical order:

Daisy, Bella, and Roxy: Our furbuddies from down under! The three of them have the funniest adventures.

Dougall: He is a super fun wheaten Scottie also new to Blogville! And, his brother is Floyd, an adorable boxer puppy. Two puppies = double the adventures!

Jazzi: She is Sweet William the Scot’s girlfriend and is every bit as sweet as William, and has the messiest adventures but always looks so clean afterwards. How does she do it?

Magic: Our schnauzer pal in the UK! He is very restrained and cultured: he doesn’t even chase a yard full of chickens! We need to learn from him.

Miss Mindy: Is only 15 months old but has the wisdom of an owl! (We hope that sounds like a compliment…BOL!)

Mitch and Molly: Our other Airedale buddies, also one of the first to welcome us to Blogville. Mitch and Molly have funny adventures daily, and also make the funniest comments!

Mollie & Alfie: Even though sweet Mollie has to live with a furball pal named Alfie, we think they’re both pretty cool.

Oskar: Oskar and his mama Pam were the first ones to welcome us to Blogville! Pam has been very patient with mama’s dumb questions.

Pearl: Pearl is our mini schnauzer friend from Tumblr. Her mama has several blogs, can you believe? She must be a superhuman. Please stop over there to say hello to Pearl!

Sweet William the Scot: Our first Scottie friend in Blogville who welcomed us with open arms! And of course he is very sweet with his compliments.

The Woos: Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, Lightning: The OP pack was also one of the first friends we made here in Blogville! They have the best events, such as International Box Day! Woohoo!

Okay, we amended the rules and awarded eleven others! We think that, just in case this isn’t allowed, we nominated one extra because one of our furiends is not on Blogspot per se, so we didn’t want to get in trouble. Schnauzers are too polite to get in trouble. BOL!

After Sunday Funday at the Beach...

Comes No Fun Bathtime.
Everytime! Argh!

The Schnauzer Stalker Strikes Again!

Today, we met Ibis walking with his super cool mama. Ibis is very aloof like the way Joules usually is. But our wallflower Joules really took to Ibis, and was the one who kept pulling towards him! She even did that thing when she stands up on her back legs and keeps scooting forwards so that the leash is taut and almost parallel with the ground! How unusual for Joules, right?

Our new furiend seemed to warm to us in just a few minutes :) We sure hope to see you around more, Ibis!

Well, Hello there, fellow Schnauzie!

Hello to you too! This adorable schnauzie was barking his greetings to us when we walked by his perch.
Yes, I'm a total schnauzer stalker.

International Box Day

We joined OP Pack's International Box Day!

Good thing the refurb vacuum our dad ordered came yesterday. We were a little scared of the box, but once we were in we didn't mind so much :) Prescott liked it so much he pretended he couldn't get out.

Now the vacuum that came in that box- that is another story. It's so loud, we can't help but hide in our beds when dad used it all over the house yesterday.

Sunday Funday: Father's Day BBQ

Prescott loves the sun so much he will wedge his way in between the fence and edge of the deck to get it. And lay on mulch and/or plants. Joules, on the other hand, won't walk on uneven or prickly surfaces like gravel, rocks, or mulch unless she HAS to follow us.
Prescott then left me a trail of mulch around the house showing where went looking for me when he came inside. *le sigh*
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads and Doggie Dads out there!

Sunbathing

Mom and Dad said we didn't have time to go to the beach today, so we sunned ourselves in the yard as long as we could.

Literally...

A dog pile.

Look at how Prescott tries to see why I'm calling Joules, just in case it's to give out treats.

"WAIT..."

Prescott watching me intently waiting for the "OK!" to eat the carrot after accompanying me to the grocery store (parking lot).

Joules’ favorite spot at Grandpawrents’ House.

Prescott’s favorite spot at Grandpawrents’ House.

According to Auntie T: "He stays here because he gets the best views of the house- the front door, in case mama wants to go for a walk... the stairs, to get petted when the grandpawrents come downstairs... and the living room, in case mama wants to sit and scratch his ears."

Hi Everyone!

We're so excited to be on Blogger/Blogspot now! We have many adventures to share.

Love,
Joules & Prescott
